It’s Deja Vu all over again 1998:2019

The injury-plagued New York Yankees finished May with a 20–7 record. The last time New York had 20 wins in May was 1998. The Yankees have now won 8 straight series for the first time since 1998. The 2019 team never seems to be out of a game, and the clutch hitting is very reminiscent of the 1998 team.

“Gio Urshela, the Most Happy Fella!”

John Sterling called it right! If you have been watching the last month of Yankees baseball, you noticed that permanent smile on Gio Urshela’s face. With Miguel Andujar out for the remainder of the season due to right shoulder surgery, Urshela has an opportunity to make a name for himself within the Yankees Organization.

Domingo German, Future All-Star

With fifty-plus games played in the 2019 MLB season, the New York Yankees sit in first place atop of the A.L. East with a 36–19 record. This is surprising considering they’ve had a MLB leading 18 players on the injury list. Within those surprises lies Domingo German, the league’s leader in wins for a pitcher (9–1) who has been the Yankees most valuable player to this point of the season.
