When we think from a historical standpoint of the New York Giants franchise, the words that come to mind were integrity and respect. The last 10 years of Big Blue Football have been anything but that. Words like laughingstock, embarrassing, and comical were defined for this franchise. Hiring and firing coaches had become the norm for this once proud franchise. Coming into this season they were tied with their neighbor the New York Jets for the worst record in the NFL since 2017 at 22-60. The main goal for Giants franchise and for fans was hoping for some sort of direction and finding an identity. Ultimately getting back to the reason why the New York Giants were so well respected and feared around the NFL.

After 8 weeks, The New York Giants are 6-2 and currently slated as the 6th seed in the NFC Playoffs. How did the surprise of the NFL season get to this point? To think what this team has overcome during this season so far, injuries, lack of explosiveness on offense, and no passing game, yet still have won 6 of their first 8 games has been nothing short of amazing. They always say talent wins games in this league, yes that may be very true, but you have to have the combination of the heart, want, and belief to be successful in this league. This is the message Head Coach Brian Daboll has implemented into this franchise, do your job, and play for 60 minutes, everything will work itself out mentality. To say the least "Coaching Matters" and with the roster the Giants have currently constructed, Daboll, Defensive Coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale, and Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka have done a marvelous job with putting their players in the right positions to excel and to succeed.

The first and most important element in moving in the right direction is finding an identity. The New York Giants have found their identity by saying to all the other 31 teams, that this team will never quit and have a never say die attitude. This is not the same old Giants from the past 10 years, they're not a gimmie victory anymore in this league. That is a huge credit to Daboll and this coaching staff.

There can be many different reasons as to why the Giants are 6-2. It could be the play of Saquon Barkley, it could be the play of their defense, but in all honesty, it is the masterful coaching job of this coaching staff, but most importantly Head Coach Brain Daboll. It is why Daboll is the odds-on favorite to win Coach of the Year. To conclude, Brian Daboll has brought hope back to a franchise who desperately needed it.
